DELAY
Delay adds echoes after each note, from a close slap to a trail that fills the gaps between phrases. Use it to give a voice or guitar more space, or make the repeats part of the rhythm.
Controls
TIME
- Range
- 20ms to 2.0s
- Default
- 252ms
Sets the gap before the first echo and between repeats when SYNC is FREE or no tempo is known. Short times add a close slap, longer times leave a distinct answer after each note.
FB
- Range
- 0% to 90%
- Default
- 31%
Feedback sends each echo back for another repeat. Raise it for a longer trail, lower it when echoes cover the next phrase.
MIX
- Range
- 0% to 100%
- Default
- 25%
Blends the echoes with the original recording. Raise it to bring the repeats forward, lower it to keep them behind the performance.
SYNC
- Steps
- FREE · 1/2 · 1/4 · 1/8. · 1/8 · 1/16 · 1/4T
- Default
- FREE
Choose a note value to lock the echoes to the recording's saved metronome tempo, or its detected tempo if no metronome tempo was saved. FREE uses TIME, and so does any note value when no usable tempo is known.
MODE
- Steps
- MONO · STEREO · PING-PONG
- Default
- STEREO
MONO puts the echoes in the center, STEREO echoes each channel on its own, and PING-PONG starts on the left and sends successive repeats between the sides. Try PING-PONG on headphones when you want the trail to move around the recording.
TONE
- Range
- 1.0k to 16k
- Default
- 5.3k
Sets how much top end survives as echoes feed back into later repeats. Lower it for a darker trail that sits behind the recording, raise it for clearer repeats.
AGE
- Range
- 0% to 100%
- Default
- 0%
Adds a slow tape-like pitch wobble and soft saturation to the repeating trail. Raise it for a worn echo character, or keep it low for steady repeats.

For a close vocal slap, set SYNC to FREE, TIME to 100ms, FB to 10% and MIX to 15%. Try MODE at MONO, TONE at 5.0k and AGE at 0% to keep the echo centered and steady.
Questions
How do I make delay follow the song's tempo?
Choose a note value under SYNC, such as 1/4 for an echo on each beat. Music Dawn uses the metronome tempo saved with that recording first, then the detected tempo; if neither is available, the delay uses TIME. At slow tempos, a long note value can hit the delay's maximum time instead of keeping its full rhythmic spacing.
What do the delay SYNC labels mean?
1/2 lasts two beats, 1/4 one beat, 1/8 half a beat and 1/16 a quarter of a beat. 1/8. is a dotted eighth note, lasting three quarters of a beat; 1/4T is a quarter-note triplet, lasting two thirds of a beat.
Why does TIME not change my synced delay?
When SYNC has a note value and the recording has a usable tempo, that combination sets the echo spacing instead of TIME. The TIME readout then shows the synced echo time; choose FREE to go back to your own setting.
