Trim a recording
Keep the part of a recording you want to hear, without the silence or handling noise at its edges. Trimming saves a start and end point; it never cuts audio out of the original file.
Set the start and end
Open a recording and tap the scissors button, Edit. Drag the left red handle to set START and the right handle to set END. The dimmed areas are left out; the large time above the waveform shows the length you are keeping.
The same Edit screen is available on iPhone and iPad. Trim Watch recordings on either device after they reach the library. Trimming is free.
Preview the selection
Tap the play button above Preview to hear the selected section on repeat. You can move the handles while it plays to check the edges, then tap pause when you are done.
Preview plays the original recording without the FX chain. Return to the recording after saving to hear the trimmed recording with its effects.
Save or restore the full recording
Tap the checkmark, Save, to keep the trim. Tap Back to leave without saving your changes.
To recover an earlier start or a later ending, open Edit again and move the handles outward. To restore the full recording, move both handles to the ends of the waveform and tap Save.
Questions
Does trimming delete any audio?
No. Music Dawn keeps the original file and saves only the boundaries you chose. You can open Edit later and bring the edges back.
Why does trim preview sound different from playback?
Trim preview plays the original audio without effects so you can listen for a clean start and ending. Normal playback uses the recording's FX chain.
Will the file I share include my trim?
Yes. Sharing renders the saved selection when a recording is trimmed. Save in Edit before opening Share.
